Rev. William Harold Nicholson

Rev. William Harold Nicholson, 94, husband of the late Margaret Childress Nicholson, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, May 28, 2017.

Born in Spartanburg County, a son of the late William Pack and Ollie Belue Nicholson, Rev. Nicholson received his Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee. He pastored at Martin Grove Wesleyan for thirty-seven years and taught at the Pickens County Vocational School for twenty years. He was a member of Glenwood Wesleyan Church and a US Army National Guard Veteran.

In what spare time Harold had, he helped Clemson University to write two text books, Textiles I and Textiles II. These text books were used in college techs and high schools all over the South East. Down through the years Harold has won many awards and appreciation. The most appreciated is the one that the Wesleyan Church District and Martin Grove Wesleyan Church gave Harold. In 2005, The Martin Grove Wesleyan Church and South Carolina Conference had a special service and surprised him by giving him the honor of Pastor Emeritus of Martin Grove Wesleyan Church for his long and impressive service there.

Surviving are two daughters, Jean Nicholson Pilgrim (Don) of Six Mile, and Judy Nicholson Hughes of Greenville; one brother, Jack Nicholson of Easley; seven grandchildren, Brad Lewis (Andrea), Sean Lewis, Leilani Watts (David), Robbie Hughes (Tara), Chad, Benjamin and Samuel Hughes; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Rev. Nicholson was predeceased by two brothers, Marvin Nicholson and Rev. Joe Nicholson; a sister, Evelyn N. Watson; and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Glenwood Wesleyan Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM Wednesday at the church, prior to the service.
