Ruth Cure Alexander, age 100, died October 18, 2021, surrounded by family after living a long and happy life. Ruth was born November 13, 1920, in Martinsville, Indiana, where she spent most of her life. She was a graduate of Martinsville High School and Butler University. After graduating from Butler University, she worked for Eli Lilly in Indianapolis for three years before returning to Martinsville with her late husband of 61 years, William (Bill) Alexander. There they raised their two daughters, Jacqueline and Carol. She and her husband loved to travel, visiting all 50 states and numerous countries. She also lived in Florida and South Carolina, collecting friends and memories everywhere she went.

Ruth was a piano teacher for 35 years in Martinsville. She had much love for music and any kind of chocolate. Ruth was also known for her formidable card skills, winning countless games in bridge club, all the way to the end of her life and for her kindness and sense of humor.

Survivors include her two children: Jacqueline Worley (Wesley) of Clemson, South Carolina, and Carol Bither of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren: Mike Worley, Christy Medeiros, Brian Bither, and Amy Bither; plus nine great-grandchildren: Disney, Alexandra (Alex), Hadley, Caila, Emma, Savannah, Alexandra (Lexie), Alethia (Layla), and Luke. She was preceded in death by her husband and her older brother, William J. Cure.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 19th at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Rd., Central, South Carolina. The family will receive friends after the service. Due to Covid-19 the family has requested that all attendees wear a mask.
