Obituary

Reverend Homer Smith, 89, of Easley, went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2017.

Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late James Frank and Bernice Black Smith.

Homer served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. After the service, he pursued a theological degree from Owosso Bible College and also Southern Pilgrim College.

Reverend Smith pastored churches in South Carolina, Alabama and North Carolina for 50+ years.

Homer's greatest hobby was repairing bicycles. He was known for spending countless hours restoring bikes that would be given to underprivileged children at Christmas time. For his dedication and service he was given a key to the City of Easley by Mayor Larry Bagwell. He also was an avid golfer.

He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and the Anchor Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his loving, devoted wife of 69+ years, Montez Masters Smith; two sons, Mitchell Randall Smith and his wife Peggy of Easley; and Terry Dean Smith and his wife Jill, of Duncan; a daughter, Maria Smith Arms and her husband Donald, of Greer; seven grandchildren, Missy Little (Ernie), Brandi Brooks (Scott), Wesley Smith (Melissa), Jessie Smith, Cacie Smith, Marisa Southard (Hugh), and Megan Arms; eight great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; and a step sister, Helen Murphy, of Easley. Homer is also survived by his sister-in-law, Edith Smith; and his brother-in-law, Heyward Masters.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Reverend J. D. Smith, Reverend Howard Smith, Melton Smith, and Reverend Elmer Smith.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anchor Sunday School Class, c/o Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs Road, Easley, SC 29642.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you for the love and care that was shown to Homer by Piedmont Hospice, especially Chris, Charlene and Henrietta.
