Jack McCormac was the finest example of an college engineering professor who really cared about his students. I was also a civil engineering professor and tried to treat my students with the same care and respect that Jack showed us. Jack and my Dad were in the same Sunday School class at FUMC so I got added benefit from visits at home thru the years. Thank you Jack for all you did for thousands of us. I'm so sorry for your loss. Your Father was the best teacher I had during my time at Clemson and it is not even close. I finished in Civil Engineering in 84 and had him for every course he taught. If I could not get in his class I would rearrange my schedule and get him the next semester. There is no way I could exaggerate the influence he had on every one I knew in Civil Engineering. What a great man and one of my heroes. I'm in the steel business and still buy his Steel Design book whenever it is updated. Anyone who used his books in a class knows exactly why. Wow, what a giant.

Lack was always so friendly with a wonderful sense of humor. I, and I'm sure many others, will miss his greetings at CUMC on Sunday mornings. My prayers for all of his family and friends

I met Jack 33 years ago and encountered him almost daily in Lowry Hall. He never failed to greet me with a warm smile and a kind word. Godspeed my friend. Danny Metz

It was a great honor and privilege to have been one of your students. You left a permanent impression on my life and I greatly appreciate your dedication to education and the Civil Engineering profession. Rest In Peace Jack.
